Central Highlands Easter Sunflower Festival
When: April 1st – April 5th
What: Celebrating Easter and autumn in its full glory, bringing out large crowds. Through-out the Easter weekend there are great performances: A Sunflower Parade with an array of floats, family fun day, rodeos, horse races, market stalls and the crowning of the annual Sunflower Queen and Princess.

Clermont Gold & Coal Festival

When: August 14th – August 15th
What: Celebrated each year to pay homage to the rich gold / copper mining and pastoral history with a two day event full of entertainment, and market stalls. You can even win gold nuggets (valued at $50 each) on the gold wheel. Known as ‘Clermont Goldfest’ it’s a great celebration to catch while on your travels through the Central Highlands region in winter.

Central Highlands Multicultural Festival

When: August 22nd – August 30th
Where: Located at the Emerald Showgrounds. This is the largest festival of the year in the Central Highlands and brings together communities through the region in celebration of cultural diversity and the bigger awareness of multiculturalism.
The festival is also a part of ‘Arts in August’ featuring workshops, performance arts, and gallery displays. Let’s not forget there will be ample activities for all the family with live performances, Queensland’s best entertainers, and food stalls to tempt the taste buds (over 20 food stalls).

Charters Towers Show
When: July 26th – July 28th
What: The premier show of Charters Towers for the year. You’ll find an agricultural display with beef cattle, equestrian events, and more. Enjoy the local arts and crafts, market stalls, fresh vegetables and fruits and catch the activities available for the weekend at the end of July.

Emerald Races
When: Every Month (check out our online guide for details)
What: Through-out the year there are many race events that are perfect to catch when traveling in the Emerald Area. The Local Emerald Racecourse hosts famous race events through the year including: Emerald 100 Race day, Easter Sunday Races, Ladies and Tradies race day, and the five race card on Anzac day – The Emerald Cup.

Charters Towers New Year’s Eve PBR Rodeo
When: December 31st
What: Get ready to saddle up and giddy up to the Charters towers New Year’s Eve Touring Pro. It’s one of the highlights of the rodeo season. Experience the thrills and spills. It’s also one of the biggest New Year’s Eve celebrations in the region. It’s a great way to welcome the New Year with bull riding, and camp drafting.
